INTRODUCTION

Formerly known as the "Horticultural schoolroom" of Agriculture division in Taipei Empire University since 1913, it was renamed to the Department of Horticuture of National Taiwan University in 1945.
Sixty years later, the Department has been well recognized as one of the best research and teaching units in the filed of horticulture in Taiwan, with a distinguished record of academic accomplishment, diverse courses, and well-traind students.

The teach goal of the Department is to educate high-level talented people, to engage in scientific research, teaching, extension, as well as horticultural business management. The reserch programs properly merge both traditional methodology and biological technology, for the improvement of variety, production, and management in horticulture crops, in order to commit a better living environment. In addition, a variety of coures are offered according to the needs of the College, to train people for the sustainable development of the Country.
